Goals Are Meant To Be Broken

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." Eleanor Roosevelt

It’s a new year filled with new dreams and possibilities. The world is overflowing with endless adventures for what could be. All you have to do is take the first step toward your desired destination.

Take your dream. Make it a goal. Break it down, step-by-step. Goals are meant to be broken down into smaller steps, so that you can reach your goal.

So, go ahead. You’ve got this. Goals are meant to be broken.

There is one goal that is constant for me every year. Really, it’s easy. You can do it too and crush it!

Every year, my goal is to do something new. For instance, you can go to a new place, go on a new adventure, create a masterpiece, write a best seller, and so much more. The sky is the limit.

When I look at my resume of all of the things I’ve accomplished, the places I’ve gone and things I’ve experienced, whether it’s in the past week, month, year or five years ago, it makes me super proud of myself!

Take a look at your adventure resume.

What is one thing you accomplished this week? Maybe you made a new friend, started a new job, made a decision to take up a hobby, go back to church, or you created your first masterpiece. How exciting!

This past year was jam packed with new accomplishments for me.

  • I’ve made some new friends.

  • Designed floral arrangements for a wedding.

  • Created my first candle this year. It’s colorful and smells good, too.

  • Saw a new musical called, “When Pigs Fly.” Seriously, that was the name of the musical.

  • Went to my first pro football game. Unfortunately, we got creamed, but it was an awesome experience I wouldn’t have traded.

  • Traveled out of the country, where I visited new villages and ate new dishes I had never tried before. Some dishes I couldn’t even pronounce, but my cousin could sure pack in the food.

  • Adopted two puppies. Meet Molly and Dakota!

When you reflect on your 2023 accomplishments:

  • What were the goals you achieved?

  • Did you make any career moves?

  • What was the most challenging obstacle you overcame?

  • What was the most fun adventure and the memories you made from it?

  • What was a mistake you made? What did you learn from it? How did it help you to grow?

  • As you move forward into 2024, what will you leverage to accomplish your goals this year?

  • Were there any goals you didn’t accomplish in 2023? Ask yourself, “Why not?” If it’s a burning dream, what is one action step you can take today that will help you reach that goal?

What will you do? Create? Accomplish in 2024?

What’s holding you back?

“You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore.” William Faulkner

So, go out and be brave. Achieve the impossible dream. It’s within your grasp.

"Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4
