Helping Christian Couples Prepare for a Marriage That Thrives
Congratulations on taking this important step toward marriage! While planning a wedding is exciting, preparing for the marriage itself is one of the wisest investments you can make in your future together.
Preparing for More Than the Wedding
As a Christian, my approach to marriage is grounded in Scripture and the belief that God is for you and your marriage. I work with Christian couples from a variety of backgrounds who desire a biblical foundation for their relationship and want God to be at the center of their marriage.
I typically work with couples through three personalized premarital sessions, beginning with the SYMBIS assessment. SYMBIS gives us a valuable starting point for discovering your unique relationship strengths, exploring areas where you may see things differently, and bringing important conversations to the surface.
Together, we explore the topics that can make a significant difference in your marriage, including:
-
Communication, personality styles, and understanding one another
-
Money and financial expectations
-
Conflict resolution and how to navigate difficult conversations
-
Emotional connection and cultivating deeper intimacy
-
Expectations, values, and other important “hot topics”
-
Building a strong support system and connecting with a church community
-
Creating a shared foundation centered on faith and God
My goal isn't simply to give you information. It's to help you become more aware of one another and better prepared for the conversations, challenges, and joys that come with marriage.
Sometimes we don't know what we don't know—especially when we're young or entering marriage for the first time. I help couples discover the questions they may not have thought to ask and create a safe space to talk about them openly.
A Biblical Approach to Conflict
One of the most important skills a couple can develop is learning how to navigate conflict with understanding, empathy, and grace.
I incorporate biblical principles of communication, listening, forgiveness, and compassion while helping couples look beneath the surface of an emotional reaction to understand what may be happening underneath. When we can understand our own emotions and recognize the deeper needs and longings of our spouse, we can respond with greater empathy rather than simply reacting.
I often remind couples that winning an argument isn't really winning if the person you love most ends up feeling hurt or disconnected. The goal isn't to win against one another; it's to learn how to work through challenges together.
Faith at the Center
For couples who desire it, prayer and spiritual guidance can be part of our work together. I encourage couples to consider how their faith will shape the way they communicate, make decisions, handle conflict, build intimacy, and support one another throughout their marriage.
I also believe a healthy marriage doesn't exist in isolation. Developing relationships within a church community and building a strong support system can provide encouragement, wisdom, accountability, and connection throughout the years.
A Little About Me
My professional training includes a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Point Loma Nazarene University, along with extensive Christian coaching and mental health training through Light University. I am a Professional Christian Life Coach, Board Certified Master Mental Health Coach, Certified Trauma-Informed Coach, Certified Brain Health Coach, and SYMBIS Facilitator, with additional training in crisis response, trauma care, and suicide prevention.
I have also been actively involved in church ministry and currently lead a women's small-group Bible study.
But beyond my education and professional training, I bring something very personal to this work: I believe deeply in the possibility of a strong, healthy, flourishing marriage because I have experienced the difference it makes when a couple intentionally puts God first.
Clients often describe me as encouraging, compassionate, and easy to connect with. I strive to see people through God's eyes—with love, grace, and hope—and I genuinely believe in each person's potential and their capacity to grow.
My hope is that when we finish our time together, you won't simply feel more prepared for your wedding day. You'll feel more prepared for the lifetime you're about to build together.
